one of my first poems about the women i my life that left home hoping for a better life i would always imagine how life went....

shattered

shattered cracked not yet broken
left with words unspoken
caught in the moment
escaping tomorrows torment
moment of a happy illusion
illusion that causes her confusion
confusion that leads to her prostitution
shes shattered cracked but not yet broken
left with words unspoken
shattered cracked but not yet broken by her life in the shack
trying to forget by smoking crack
shattered cracked not yet broken trying escape this life of daily rape
they say what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger
leaving this shame-full life she dreams no longer
she escapes this life of hungry nights
uneducated she knows of no rights
shattered cracked not yet broken
left with words unspooken
to live her happy illusion her legs she must open
but opening her legs doesn't bring reality to her happy illusion
instead it causes more confusion
but opening her legs pays the rent ,buys the clothes and has hungry nights
she's the lady of the night and in her industry she needs no lights
and weel even they  need rights
she works hard so she thinks she deserves to relax ,she never relaxed in that shack
so she relaxes by smoking crack
sex ,crack,sex,crack
that's the reality she ran to thinking she would escape life in the shacks
the city is heartless
the city is heartless takes your soul and heart and leaves you life-less
shattered cracked not yet broken
left with words unspoken
her happy illusion was so close yet so far
died a whore never got a chance to be treated like a star
shattered cracked ended up broken
her death was silence no words were spoken .......

  1. ----> so powerful Lelo_ and the image that accompanies it. In the image one see's her 'brokenness'_ but not in a violent, desperate or pitiful way (as in the poem_ maybe because you use your imagination more)_ your figure sits quietly, anonymous, her back to us_ to the world, where she reveals only her 'cracks', but her posture guards her, as it shows strength and makes her still feel whole.
